Quiet Heroes

The impetus for starting this blog, an idea I have been mulling over for a while now, came from some comments by one of my oldest, dearest friends:

"As for writing a blog ... now that is a great idea. You know that so many people these days are searching for meaning, for how to view the world, for how to obtain that balance; but not many have your gift of writing/communication - and that WILL be of interest to others - of that I am convinced. Even if there was no economic meltdown, folks are now in a sort of collective crisis - both young and old - and words of wisdom are always something that folks read.

You do NOT need to have some cool/different angle: you are the angle, the perspective, the wisdom.

Write about folks around you, about your friends' courage in the face of challenging circumstances. Write about laughter, about connecting with others, about ideas, faith, imagination, and travels.

There are not many folks writing about losing a parent and the transition, about now being the matriarch, about being the leader and having to dig inside to find the courage to re-invent yourself, about having to be strong and figure out what path your life needs to take.

Your past journalism was about interviewing folks and their everyday lives and what they did, the quiet heroes that deal with calamity in inspiring ways and about folks just getting on with their lives.

Channel that incredible gift, that passion, that energy, with your other gifts: your writing gift, your imagination, your love of people and use the Baha'i Faith as a guide and your husband as your ground center and your girls as your starting point.

Why not title your blog ... QUIET HEROES?"
